The short answer

In “Shipping & payment” → “Payment methods” enable the Tabby card and paste the secret key and merchant code, and the Tamara card with its API token, then “Save” and the keys are tested with the gateway. The customer finishes on Tabby's or Tamara's page, and the full amount reaches you from them under your own contract. Both work for a store selling in Saudi riyals or UAE dirhams.

The steps in the store panel

  1. Sign up with Tabby or Tamara

Instalments run on your own contract: open a merchant account with Tabby, Tamara or both, and after approval your keys are in each dashboard.

  2. Open payment methods

In “Shipping & payment” pick the “Payment methods” tab. Only the gateways that work in your store's country and currency are shown.

  3. Paste the Tabby keys

On the Tabby card tick “Enable” and paste the secret key and merchant code. Your account works in its own region — Saudi Arabia or the UAE — by your store's currency.

  4. Paste the Tamara token

On the Tamara card tick “Enable” and paste the API token from the Tamara dashboard.

  5. Save and test

Press “Save” and the keys are tested with the gateway; if it refuses them the card stays off and a message says so. Then try an order from your store.

What you should know

  • Tabby and Tamara work for a store selling in Saudi riyals or UAE dirhams. The Kuwaiti and Bahraini dinars and the Omani rial are not yet open as store currencies, because they carry three decimals.
  • With Tabby the full amount is captured as soon as Tabby approves the payment, because Tabby only pays the merchant for captured payments.
  • With Tamara the order is authorised after approval, and when you ship it Tamara is told automatically with the courier's name and tracking number so the amount is captured; if that fails a note is written on the order, and Tamara captures by itself after 21 days.
  • If the customer is not eligible for instalments they see a message saying so and choose another payment method in your store.
  • The fee on each payment is set by your contract with Tabby or Tamara, and the money never passes through ArabyBot.
