AI in advertising: five jobs it does, its tools, and what it cannot do
What AI does in an ad today, job by job, and which tool for which job — Meta's free tools, writing and design tools, and an ads manager — the limits no tool passes, and how to start with no experience.

The short answer
AI does five jobs in advertising today: it writes the text, designs pictures and video, chooses the audience, distributes the budget, and reads results and suggests changes. Meta offers free tools inside Ads Manager for audience and picture improvement, and general writing and design tools make content. What most tools do not do is connect the ad to what happens after it: the reply to the customer, the order, and whether it was delivered or refused — which is what decides whether the ad made money.

Five jobs AI does in an ad
- Writes the text
The first line and alternative versions, in the audience's dialect, within Meta's policies — if it is given the product's facts. The method is in writing an ad with AI.
- Designs the picture and video
Puts the product in a new scene, writes on it, makes post and story sizes, and moves the designs in a tall video. See designing an ad with AI and a video ad with AI.
- Picks the audience
Starts from your business, the people who engage with your Page and those who bought from you, then widens toward people like them.
- Spreads the budget
Between placements, audiences and ads, giving more to what works.
- Reads results and suggests
Sees what spends without results and which audience is tired of it, and suggests pausing or changing.
Which tool for which job
| Job | Meta's free tools | General tools | ArabyBot's ads manager |
|---|---|---|---|
| Text | Suggested alternative text versions | Chat assistants such as ChatGPT and Gemini | Writes from your product's data and checks Meta's policies |
| Picture and video | Expanding and improving the picture per placement | Design tools such as Canva, and image generators | Three scenes from your photo and a tall video from them |
| Audience | Advantage+ audience, widened by Meta | — | An audience from your business, Page, customers and income level |
| Budget | Meta's automatic distribution | — | A proposed budget with its reason, and a daily limit it never passes |
| Reading and changing | Meta's reports | — | "Ask about your campaign" and a report in delivered orders |
What AI cannot do in an ad
It can
- Make the text, design and video in minutes instead of days
- Try many versions and find which gives the cheapest result
- Explain why it chose this audience and this budget
- Read your campaign's figures and suggest a change
It cannot
- Invent a better offer or price than yours
- Photograph a product it has no real photo of
- Answer people who write instead of you, unless you have a bot
- Know which ad sold, if it is not connected to the orders
The last limit matters most. Most tools stop at the click or the message, so an ad looks successful while it brings questions, not orders. When the ad is connected to the chat, the order and the delivery, it is measured by what matters to a merchant: what each really delivered order cost. That is what learning from the delivered order does.
How to start with no experience
- One product
Start with your best-selling product, with a real photo and a clear price.
- An ad that opens a chat
WhatsApp or Messenger, with a bot that answers in seconds and takes the order.
- A small budget for a week
Change nothing in the first days; the ad is learning.
- Judge by the delivered order
Then raise the budget of what worked and stop what spent without an order. The full steps are in make your ad with AI.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best AI website for ads?
It depends on the job. For writing text a general chat assistant is enough; for improving a picture inside the ad, Meta's free tools; for manual design, general design tools. If you want the whole ad from a product photo — text, design, video, audience and budget — and then to know which ad brought a delivered order, that is what the AI ads manager was built for.
Will AI replace the marketer?
It will take the repetitive work: writing versions, preparing sizes, daily follow-up. What the tool does not know stays with the marketer: the offer and price, who the product is for and why, reading the market. So the marketer's work shifts from clicking settings to deciding the offer and judging results.
Does Meta allow ads made with AI?
Yes, and Meta itself offers generative tools inside Ads Manager. These ads follow the same ad policies, and Meta requires disclosure of digitally created or altered content in social issue, electoral and political ads.
Does AI understand Arabic dialects?
Modern models write Egyptian, Gulf and Modern Standard Arabic well when asked explicitly and given the product's audience. The common mistake is leaving them to choose, so they write formal Arabic for an audience that speaks its dialect.
What does using AI in advertising cost?
Meta's tools inside Ads Manager are free; you pay only the ad budget — the smallest of which we read from Meta: EGP 52.61 or USD 1 a day. Other tools range from free to a monthly subscription. The cost that matters most is the cost per delivered order, explained in Facebook ad cost.
