The short answer
There is no fixed price: you set the daily or lifetime budget, and Meta sells reach by auction. Meta's minimum daily budget is about one US dollar in your account's currency — read from Meta in October 2026: EGP 52.61 for an account in Egyptian pounds, and USD 1 for an account in dollars. The cost per message or order varies with the audience, competition, season and ad quality, and the measure that matters is the cost per delivered order, not per message.

The smallest daily budget Meta accepts
The minimum is worth about one US dollar in the account's currency, so it moves with the exchange rate — in riyals, dirhams or dinars you see it in Ads Manager when you type the budget. It can be higher depending on what the campaign optimises for. But remember: the minimum is what lets the ad run, not what is enough for Meta to learn from it.
How Meta prices an ad
There is no price list. Every time Facebook or Instagram is opened, Meta runs an auction between the ads targeting that person, and the ad with the highest total value wins, based on three things: what the advertiser bids, how likely this person is to do what the ad asks, and the ad's quality. That is why a good ad can pay less than a poor one for the same audience.
| Factor | Raises the cost when | Lowers it when |
|---|---|---|
| Competition and season | Ramadan, White Friday and the end of the year | Ordinary days after the seasons |
| Country and audience | A small audience, or high purchasing power many compete for | A wider audience inside the shipping area |
| Goal | An order costs more than a click, and a click more than a view | A goal that matches what you really need |
| Ad quality | A picture that stops no one and text that does not state the offer | A clear offer and price from the first second |
| Ad age | The audience has seen it many times | A fresh version of the same offer |
In pounds, riyals and dirhams: what changes between countries
- The account currency is chosen once
It cannot change after the account is created; to change it you create a new ad account. An account in your local currency spares you conversion fees and some cards' limits on foreign-currency purchases.
- Tax by country
Meta may add VAT according to the account's country and tax details; it shows on the invoice, not in the budget.
- The same audience is priced differently
Reach in the Gulf usually costs more than in Egypt because competition for the audience is stronger. Do not compare cost per message between two countries; compare the cost per delivered order in each.
Work out the cost per delivered order, not per message
Meta's report tells you what a message cost. But a message does not pay rent; a delivered order does. Look at two ads with the same budget:
| Illustrative example | Ad A | Ad B |
|---|---|---|
| Spend | 1,500 pounds | 1,500 pounds |
| Messages | 300 (5 pounds a message) | 150 (10 pounds a message) |
| Orders | 45 | 40 |
| Delivered | 30 | 34 |
| Cost per delivered order | 50 pounds | about 44 pounds |
The ad that looks "more expensive" in the message report was the cheaper one in delivered orders. This calculation needs you to know which order came from which ad, and what happened to it after shipping — which Meta's Ads Manager cannot see on its own.
It reads each ad's spend from your Meta account and puts next to it what happened afterwards: chats, orders, confirmed, delivered and refused, so you see the cost per delivered order for each ad. And it tells Meta about confirmed and delivered orders so Meta looks for buyers like them. Ads manager · Reporting orders to Meta.
Frequently asked questions
Do I pay Meta in advance?
Usually not: Meta charges your card after spending, when the account reaches its billing threshold or on its monthly date. In some countries it offers a balance you pay first and then spend from.
How much do I need to test an ad fairly?
Enough for the ad to leave the learning phase: Meta says about 50 results within 7 days. If you expect a result to cost 40 pounds, a fair test is about 2,000 pounds in a week (illustrative example). Less than that gives you a signal, not a verdict.
Why did the cost suddenly rise?
The most common reasons: a season crowded with advertisers such as Ramadan, White Friday and the end of the year, the audience tiring of the same ad after seeing it many times, or a major edit that sent the ad back to the learning phase.
Is boosting under the post cheaper than Ads Manager?
It is the same auction, so boosting gets no discount. The difference is that boosting gives you fewer goals and options, so you may pay for engagement when you want orders.
Are the messages that come from the ad paid?
On Messenger and Instagram there are no message fees. On WhatsApp, the conversation a click-to-WhatsApp ad opens is free for 72 hours, and after that messages you start are on a paid template. WhatsApp ads.
