The short answer

Selling digital products needs a store that delivers the product itself rather than a parcel: a different code for each unit from your list of codes, one link for every buyer, or fulfilment by you on what the buyer typed, such as a player ID or an account e-mail. In ArabyBot Store you pick the product type from these three, so the code or link shows on the thank-you page and under «My orders» the moment the buyer pays, and reaches them on WhatsApp from your store's number if you connected it — and no code is ever handed to a second buyer. A digital order has no shipping and no address, and you can connect a supplier that buys the code automatically after every paid order.

Which digital products can you sell from your store?

A digital product reaches the buyer as a code, a link or something done to their account — never a parcel. Each of these has a type in the product form that decides how it reaches the buyer, and the table puts the most common digital products under their type.

How does the buyer receive a digital product as soon as they pay?

As soon as the order is recorded as paid, the code or link shows for the buyer in three places: the thank-you page right after checkout, «My orders» in their store account, which they can come back to any time, and a WhatsApp message from your store's number if your store is linked to a WhatsApp number. Each code is reserved for one line of one order, so the same code never reaches a second buyer.

When is it «recorded as paid»? For online payment when the payment succeeds, and for «mobile wallet» and the methods you confirm yourself, when you confirm the order. A «cash on delivery» order never releases a code before it is recorded as paid, so nobody gets a code they have not paid for.

A digital order asks for no shipping zone, no address and no delivery time, and carries no shipping charge. If an order mixes a digital product with a regular one, it asks for the address and shipping like any order, for the sake of the regular product.

How do you build a digital products store, step by step?

Building a digital products store is building an ordinary online store, then choosing each product's type and adding its codes or link, then switching on a payment that delivers the code at once.

  1. Create the store

From ArabyBot Store: a short form, then your store runs on a free arabybot.store link, and you can connect your own domain later. The full steps are in the guide to creating an online store.

  2. Choose the look

The first template is free, and two of the store's templates are drawn for digital stores: one for game top-ups and cards, with a game search and packages priced as tiles, and one for licences, codes and accounts.

  3. Add the product and choose its type

In the product form, «product type»: «one code per unit (from a list)», «one link for every buyer», or «fulfilled by the merchant». Each choice has its own price, such as card denominations or subscription lengths.

  4. Paste the codes

One code per line, up to five thousand at a time, for a given choice or «for any choice». The stock is the available codes, and the product shows you the available and used codes for each choice. For «fulfilled by the merchant», add a field from «fields the customer fills» where the customer types the player ID or e-mail.

  5. Switch on payment

An online payment gateway on your own contract and keys, so the money goes straight to your account and the code is delivered as soon as the payment succeeds — or «mobile wallet», which you confirm yourself.

  6. Connect WhatsApp and open the store

Once your store is linked to a WhatsApp number, the code also reaches the customer on WhatsApp, and the bot answers shoppers' questions from the store's products. See the guide to a store linked to WhatsApp.

How do you connect a supplier that delivers the codes automatically?

If you buy your cards and codes from a supplier with an API, connect it under «Suppliers» in the store settings instead of copying codes by hand: the store has a ready connection to Reloadly, and accepts any other supplier that answers in JSON over https, with the details copied from the supplier's API documentation. Then you link each product, or each choice, to the supplier's product.

Once the order is recorded as paid, the store buys the code from the supplier within about a minute and sends it to the customer the same ways when it arrives. Each order line is bought once only, under its own reference number, so a retry never buys twice. For top-ups by ID, the store sends the supplier what the customer typed, such as the player number.

Before the first sale

Try the connection in your supplier's test environment if it has one, and make sure your balance with it is enough. Suppliers that require a special signature on every request need a connection of their own, so ask us about your supplier before you rely on it.

Payment gateways for a digital products store in Egypt and Saudi Arabia

Every payment gateway in the store runs on your own contract and keys, so the buyer's money goes straight to your account and we never stand between you and the buyer. The table shows the gateways available in the store by market.

Payment gateways and when the code is delivered
MarketGateways in the storeWhen the code is delivered
EgyptPaymob · KashierAs soon as the payment succeeds
Saudi Arabia and the GulfMoyasar · Tap · Tabby · TamaraAs soon as the payment succeeds
Wherever your customers pay by walletMobile wallet (a transfer you confirm)When you confirm the order

Gift cards and top-ups are products that payment gateways review with care, and some require special approval before you sell them, so read your gateway's terms on this before you open your store. In Saudi Arabia an online store is authenticated on the Business Platform; the steps are in the guide to authenticating an online store in Saudi Arabia.

How much does a digital products store cost?

ArabyBot Store's plans are monthly: «Start» at 35 SAR or 350 EGP, «Pro» at 75 SAR or 750 EGP and «Unlimited» at 150 SAR or 1,500 EGP. A year is priced as nine months; there is a 7-day trial before you pay; accounts on a running paid bot plan get 20% off; and no commission is taken on orders. The first template and the arabybot.store link are free; details on the plans page. On top of that come costs no store makes free: the payment gateway's fees and the price of the codes from your supplier.

What does the store not do for digital products?

  • It does not generate codes. The codes come from your list or your supplier; the store reserves and delivers them.
  • It does not protect a file with a per-buyer link in the «one link for every buyer» type: the link is the same for everyone. For a private link per buyer, use «one code per unit» with a different link on each line.
  • It does not fulfil «fulfilled by the merchant» on its own unless you connect a supplier that tops up by ID: otherwise you fulfil it yourself and change the order's status.

Frequently asked questions about selling digital products

1

How does the customer receive the code after buying?

As soon as it is paid: the code shows on the thank-you page after checkout, stays under «My orders» in the customer's store account, and reaches them on WhatsApp from your store's number if your store is linked to a WhatsApp number. If the product is «one link for every buyer», the link is delivered the same way.

2

What happens when the codes run out?

A digital product's stock is the number of codes available in it, so when they run out the product is out of stock like any other, and you add new codes whenever you like, one per line. The product shows you the available and used codes for each choice. If you connect a supplier to the product, it buys the code after every paid order, so you need no stock of your own.

3

Can I sell digital products without capital?

Partly. What you make yourself, such as files, templates and courses, you sell by link with no stock. Gift cards and codes you either buy in advance and paste into the store, or get from a supplier connected by API that buys the code after the customer pays — which needs a balance with the supplier on its own terms. The store plan and the payment gateway's fees remain.

4

Does cash on delivery work for digital products?

A code is never released on a «cash on delivery» order before it is recorded as paid, so nobody gets a code they have not paid for. So for digital products switch on an online payment that delivers the code at once, or «mobile wallet», which you confirm yourself and which releases the code when you do.

5

Can I sell subscriptions, accounts and top-ups by player ID?

Yes, with the «fulfilled by the merchant» type: no shipping and no address, the customer types what you need — a player ID or an account e-mail — in a field you add from «fields the customer fills», then you fulfil the order yourself and change its status. If your supplier tops up by ID through its API, connect it and the store sends it what the customer typed.

6

Can I sell PDF files, templates and courses?

Yes, with the «one link for every buyer» type: you enter the file's or course's link and it reaches everyone who pays. The link is the same for everyone, so if what you sell needs a private link for each buyer, use «one code per unit» and paste a different link or access code on each line.

7

Does a digital products store need shipping?

No. An order made only of digital products asks the customer for no shipping zone, no address and no delivery time, and carries no shipping charge. If an order mixes a digital product with a regular one, it asks for the address and shipping like any order, for the sake of the regular product.

8

Can I sell digital products in Egypt and Saudi Arabia from the same store?

The store shows prices and takes payment through the gateways you switch on, each on your own contract and keys: Paymob and Kashier in Egypt, Moyasar, Tap, Tabby and Tamara in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf. Check your gateway contract on selling gift cards and top-ups, as some gateways require special approval for this kind of product. In Saudi Arabia the store is authenticated on the Business Platform — see the store authentication guide.
