How do I take pre-orders when a product runs out, and set a minimum and maximum quantity per order?

On the product page, in «More» → «Stock and shipping»: switch on «Allow pre-orders when stock runs out» and write the pre-order line such as «Ships within 10 days»; selling continues after stock runs out, stock goes below zero by the number of waiting orders, and the order line says «Pre-order». On the same screen are «Min quantity per order» for wholesale items and «Max quantity per order» for offers and limited stock.
The steps in the store panel
- Open stock and shipping
On the product page open «More», then the «Stock and shipping» tab.
- Switch on pre-orders
Turn on «Allow pre-orders when stock runs out», and write the line customers see such as «Ships within 10 days».
- Set quantities if you like
Enter «Min quantity per order» for the customer to start from, and «Max quantity per order» for offers; an empty box means no limit.
What you should know
- Stock goes below zero by the number of waiting pre-orders, so you know how much to order from the supplier.
- The order line says «Pre-order», so your team knows it waits for stock to arrive.
