The short answer

The WhatsApp Business API works in Iraq on a +964 number, or any number that can receive the verification code, once your business is verified with Meta. Meta bills only the messages you start: a notification to a number in Iraq is $0.0079, a verification code $0.0079, and your replies to whoever wrote first are free for the first 1,000 per number each month. The AI agent answers your customers in their dialect, reads your store and confirms the order before shipping.

The number: does a Iraq number work?

The official API does not ask which country a number belongs to; a +964 number works like any other, on any carrier. Two things matter: the number must receive the verification code by SMS or call, and when connecting you choose whether to keep it on the WhatsApp Business app on your phone (coexistence) or move it to the platform alone.

Verifying a business in Iraq

Meta asks for proof that the business is real and that its name is the one customers will see. In Iraq this is usually: The company incorporation certificate or business permit, or an official document carrying the business name and address. The display name on WhatsApp must match the business name or its brand, and the green tick is Meta's decision, not something you buy. The green tick.
