The short answer
n8n is a work automation tool where you build a «workflow» of connected nodes: a node that starts on an event, such as a message arriving or a row added to a sheet, nodes that process the data, and a node that acts on the result, such as sending a message or updating a system. Its Community edition runs on your own server with no licence fee, and its cloud edition comes in plans counted by how many times workflows run. It has an «AI Agent» node that puts an AI model inside the workflow.

Why does n8n matter to a seller?
Because many tutorials present it as the way to an AI WhatsApp bot, and it is a sound way for someone who knows the tools and wants to control everything. Is n8n free?
The Community edition on your own server has no licence fee, but you pay for the server and look after it. The cloud comes in plans by executions: Starter at 20 euros a month for 2,500 executions and Pro at 50 euros for 10,000, billed annually, as on their pricing page on 26 October 2026.
Does n8n need coding?
You build workflows by drag and drop, but connecting WhatsApp needs setup on Meta for Developers: an app, a permanent token and a subscription to the WhatsApp Business Account, plus an understanding of webhooks.
