The short answer
Answering an objection starts with a question, not a defence: what does the customer really mean? “Too expensive” may mean they do not see the difference, and “I'll think about it” may mean a question went unanswered. Acknowledge it, ask one question, then answer with a specific fact: what sets your product apart, an easier way to pay, or a guarantee. Do not cut the price at the first objection. This page has ready replies to the ten commonest objections in sales chats on WhatsApp and Instagram.

The rule: acknowledge, ask, then answer
- Acknowledge the objection
A short line saying you understood: “I understand” or “you are right to check”. An instant defence makes the customer defend the objection.
- Ask one question
To find what lies behind it: what are they comparing with? What is still unclear? When do they need it?
- Answer with a specific fact
What the price includes, the warranty, cash on delivery, or a real video of the product; not general phrases like “high quality”.
Ten objections and their replies
What it usually means: They do not see the difference between yours and a cheaper one.
I understand. Are you comparing it with a particular product? Our price includes [what it includes: material, warranty, shipping], which is why it lasts [time].
What it usually means: A question went unanswered, or someone else shares the decision.
Take your time. Is anything still unclear that I can explain now, such as the size or the delivery date?
What it usually means: They compare the price alone, not what they get.
Quite possible. Could you send the link? Sometimes the size, material or warranty differ, and if it is the same product I will tell you honestly.
What it usually means: The shipping cost spoiled the price in their head.
Shipping is free on orders over [amount], and your order is now [amount]. Add [a small item] and the shipping is on us.
What it usually means: They fear losing their money.
You are right to check. You pay on delivery, inspect the product before paying, and can exchange within [time]. And here are real photos of this very product: [photos].
What it usually means: The decision is shared.
Of course. I have sent you a summary with photos, the price and the delivery date to share with them easily.
What it usually means: They see no reason to buy now.
No problem. When do you expect to need it? If you like I will remind you before then; current stock is [count] pieces.
What it usually means: Photos are not enough for them.
Here is a short video of the product from every side: [video]. And on delivery you open it and see it before paying.
What it usually means: They see no benefit for them.
What do you use now? I ask because the biggest difference is usually [feature], and it may not matter to you if what you have is enough.
What it usually means: This month's budget.
Understood. You can pay in instalments through [instalment provider, if you offer one], or we hold the piece for you until [date].
When the AI agent answers objections
Most objections repeat in the same words, and answering them needs facts, not improvisation. Write down for the AI agent what sets your product apart, the exchange policy, payment methods and the free-shipping threshold, and it answers “too expensive”, “shipping costs too much” and “is it original?” from your own words and in the customer's dialect, at any hour. What needs a decision, such as a special discount on a large order, it hands to a person. And whoever said “I'll think about it” and went quiet gets one follow-up the AI writes from the conversation. Following up a customer who stopped replying.
Do not criticise a competitor by name, do not promise what is not true such as “the last piece” when it is not, and do not push with a fake deadline. A customer who finds out never comes back, and tells others.
Frequently asked questions
Should I lower the price when the customer says “too expensive”?
Not at the first objection. Ask first what they are comparing with, and explain what the price includes. If you have something to give, make it something other than the price: free shipping, a small gift, or a smaller size. A quick discount teaches the customer to object every time.
How many times do I follow up someone who said “I'll think about it”?
Usually once, the same day or the next, with a question that helps them decide rather than repeating the offer. A second follow-up annoys more than it sells.
Can the bot answer objections?
Yes, if you write your answers for it: what sets your product apart, the exchange policy, payment methods and shipping. The AI agent answers from them in the customer's language, and hands the chat to a person when it needs a decision such as a special discount. The knowledge base.
