ArabyBot vs Twilio — finished product or build-it-yourself
On this page 9
The short answer
Twilio is a respectable product and this page will not pretend otherwise. The difference that matters to a merchant in Egypt, Saudi Arabia or the Gulf is not product quality — it is which channels you get, whether Arabic and dialect are built in rather than translated, how you are able to pay, and whether you can run the whole thing from your phone.
1. What Twilio does well
A comparison that says the alternative is bad is not a comparison, it is an advert. So these are the things it genuinely does well — and if one of them is the thing you care most about, take it.
- Reliable infrastructure at enormous scale, with excellent APIs.
- Complete flexibility if you have a development team to build exactly what you want.
- Many channels beyond WhatsApp (SMS, voice, email).
2. The real differences
- Who builds the interface? With Twilio, you do. The inbox, the team screen and the campaign console are a software project on your side. ArabyBot ships them.
- Time to running: minutes against weeks.
- AI: an agent that already reads your knowledge base and catalogue — not something you build.
The differences, row by row
This table drops every row where we and Twilio are the same — twenty rows saying "yes" on both sides help nobody. What is left is the delta, in both directions.

Twilio
- Who builds the interface? With Twilio, you do. The inbox, the team screen and the campaign console are a software project on your side. ArabyBot ships them.
- Time to running: minutes against weeks.
- AI: an agent that already reads your knowledge base and catalogue — not something you build.
3. When to choose which
| Your situation | The better fit |
|---|---|
| You sell in Egypt or the Gulf and your customers write in dialect | ArabyBot |
| You need Instagram, Facebook and TikTok alongside WhatsApp in one place | ArabyBot |
| You run a Salla, Shopify or WooCommerce store and the bot must know your stock | ArabyBot |
| You run the business from a phone more than a laptop | ArabyBot |
| You need something very specific and have a dev team to build it | Twilio |
4. Who Twilio is for, and who ArabyBot is for
Choose Twilio if you have a development team that will build the interface, the inbox and the reporting itself, you need SMS and voice alongside WhatsApp from one provider, and what you need is something no ready platform offers.
Choose ArabyBot if you are a merchant or a support team that wants an inbox, an AI agent, store integration and campaigns ready today, with no software project and no monthly development bill.
5. How to compare the two bills without being misled
Usage versus subscription. A usage-billed API looks cheaper on paper, but its invoice does not include whoever builds and maintains the interface, the inbox and the reporting. Put development and maintenance inside the comparison.
Two bills, not one. With any official provider you pay the platform its subscription and pay Meta for messages directly. A page showing one number is hiding the other; always ask whether it includes Meta's fees.
Currency and payment method. ArabyBot bills in Egyptian pounds, Saudi riyals and US dollars, by card or local payment methods. Compare the final figure in your currency, not a dollar price before conversion and bank fees.
AI messages. Every plan of ours includes a monthly number of AI-agent replies, and extra packs are bought per message, not per token. Ask the other platform how it bills AI: inside the subscription, or an external provider key you pay for yourself?
6. Moving from Twilio to ArabyBot, step by step
- Keep your number and business account.
The number and templates are at Meta; moving between solution providers happens in Meta Business Manager.
- Export contacts from your database
as a CSV and import them into ArabyBot with tags.
- Point the events your code used to handle
at the AI agent and its rules, or keep what you want through a webhook from inside ArabyBot.
- Connect your store directly
instead of a custom integration: Shopify, WooCommerce and Easy Orders are ready; Salla and Zid are written and open by agreement.
Frequently asked
I have a developer — is building on Twilio worth it?
If you need something genuinely unique that no platform offers, yes. But most of what merchants need — an inbox, agents, templates, campaigns, smart replies — already exists, and building it is not a one-off cost but months of ongoing maintenance.
