The short answer

Keeping a customer starts after the first order, not before it: an order that arrives as promised with news of every step, then a reason to come back, such as points on the next order, a subscription that reorders by itself, or an alert when a sold-out product returns, and offers only for those who agreed to them. You measure it by the share of customers who buy a second time. In ArabyBot Store these tools are built in: order-status messages on WhatsApp, loyalty points, «Subscribe & save», back-in-stock alerts and a discount for VIP customers.

Who to keep first

Not all customers are equal: a few of them make a large part of your sales. Start with them. In «Contacts» each customer has their orders and «Total spent», so you know your best customers and put them in a group with special treatment. To build the list from the start: ways to collect customer data.

How to measure what you do

The repeat purchase rate

Take a period, three months for example, and divide the number of customers who ordered twice or more by the number of everyone who ordered at least once. If it is 40 out of 200, the rate is 20%. Compare it with the previous period after each change you try.

Frequently asked questions

1

How do I bring back a customer who has not bought for a while?

With one message that has a reason: a new product like the one they bought, points waiting for them, or the return of a product they asked for. In a broadcast you pick those who have not interacted for 30 or 60 days with the «Last interaction» filter, and only those who did not stop marketing receive it.

2

How often should I send offers to my customers?

As often as you have something new worth it: once or twice a month beats a message every other day that the customer turns off. Every marketing message goes only to those who agreed.

3

What is a good repeat purchase rate?

It varies a lot with what you sell: a store selling something used up every month expects a higher rate than one selling furniture. So compare your rate with itself month after month, not with a general figure. Customer lifetime value.
