Sending bulk WhatsApp messages to customers without a ban — via the WhatsApp Business API

8 min 14 September 2026 The official route through Meta — no unofficial tools

A "bulk sender" on the app

  • imitates a person typing from a phone
  • to numbers that never agreed or saved you
  • no reports, no known price, banned within hours

A campaign on the WhatsApp Business API

  • a Meta-approved template sent from its servers
  • to a list that agreed, split by tags
  • a report per message, and a price known in advance

The short answer

A ban comes not from volume but from method: the ordinary WhatsApp app and "bulk sender" tools send from a personal number to people who never opted in, and that gets banned within hours. The legitimate route is the WhatsApp Business API with Meta-approved templates to a list that agreed to hear from you — no cap on volume, delivery and read reports per message, and a price known in advance: a marketing message in Egypt is about 3 EGP from our invoice. Anyone buying a list of numbers and blasting it gets banned — with any tool.

How WhatsApp decides to ban you

Not by volume. A number sending ten thousand messages a day through the API to a list that agreed stays at "high" quality; a number sending two hundred from a personal app through automation to strangers is banned before lunch. Three things are measured: the channel (a personal app with unofficial automation is a violation in itself), consent (did the recipient save you, message you, or leave their number), and reports (how many tapped Report or Block). Your number's quality indicator in Meta's dashboard turns the three into green, yellow or red. What to do if your number is banned.

The five rules that keep the number alive

  1. Send only to those who agreed

Customers who bought, messaged you, or left their number in a form or ad. A bought list ends the number whatever the tool.

  2. Segment with tags, never send to everyone

"Bought shoes" receives the shoes offer. The irrelevant message is the one that gets reported.

  3. Put a "stop messages" button

Whoever taps it is excluded automatically — far cheaper than their report.

  4. Start small and scale

A new number starts with a daily limit on new conversations, and Meta raises it automatically with quality. A huge campaign on day one trips the alarm.

  5. Check quality before every campaign

Green, send; yellow, cut back and wait; red, stop and look at who is reporting you.

Replies to a campaign are not billed as a campaignWhen a customer replies to your campaign, an ordinary conversation opens: your reply is a service message that counts against the 1,000 free per number per month and then costs the service rate, not the marketing rate. October 2026 pricing details.

Frequently asked

1

Why does a number get banned when sending in bulk?

Because WhatsApp measures three things: whether the message was sent from a personal app through unofficial automation, whether the recipients saved your number or messaged you before, and how many tapped Report or Block. "Bulk sender" tools lose all three. The WhatsApp Business API goes through Meta itself with an approved template, so the first does not apply, and the second and third remain yours to manage.

2

What does a bulk message cost?

In Egypt about 3 EGP per marketing message from our actual invoice (3.00 exactly). In Saudi Arabia and the UAE the rate is higher, and we show what we actually measured in the cost calculator. No per-message fee from us; the monthly plan is flat.

3

Is there a cap on the number of recipients?

In the WhatsApp Business app, yes: a broadcast list is 256 people and reaches only those who saved your number. On the API there is no list cap; Meta starts a new account with a daily limit on new conversations and raises it automatically with your number's quality, up to unlimited.

4

What if I bought a list of numbers?

You will be banned — with any tool. Numbers that never asked for your messages report you, your number's quality drops, your limits are cut and then the number is stopped. The only sustainable way: a list that agreed — customers who bought, left their number in a form, or messaged you.

5

Can I target a specific group of my customers?

Yes, with tags: bought a specific product, has not bought in 60 days, came from an ad, asked about a size and did not finish. The campaign goes to the tag, not the whole list — and that is half of what protects you from a ban, because a relevant message does not get reported.

6

Do I know who received and who read?

Per message: sent, delivered, read, or failed with the reason. Whoever replies to the campaign opens in the same inbox and the agent or an employee continues with them.
