The short answer
A WhatsApp campaign to store customers starts by segmenting them by what they bought and when: repeat buyers, those with no order in 30, 60 or 90 days, a group such as VIP, and buyers of one product — each segment with a message that fits it, sent only to customers who agreed to offers. Meta bills every marketing message on its own, by the recipient's country. In ArabyBot the campaign form reads the segment straight from the store when the campaign is built, with no file export or import, because the bot and the store are one system.

How do you segment store customers for WhatsApp campaigns?
Segment store customers by buying behaviour, not personal data: who bought more than once, who has not ordered in 30, 60 or 90 days, a group such as VIP or wholesale, and who bought one particular product. Each segment has a different reason to receive your message, and a message that matches its reason gets read rather than reported.
You do not need a customer's age or city: the last-order date, the number of orders and the products bought are enough. Someone who bought a cream that lasts two months tells you when they need the next jar.
| Segment | Who is in it | What the message is for |
|---|---|---|
| Bought more than once | A customer who came back at least twice | Recognition and early access to new stock, not a big discount |
| No order in 30 days | A short gap, possibly a normal buying cycle | A reminder to reorder, or a complementary product |
| No order in 60 days | A customer drifting away | A question about their experience before any offer |
| No order in 90 days | A lapsed customer | A short win-back plan, then stop |
| A group such as VIP | Customers you choose | An offer of their own with an end date |
| Bought one product | Whoever bought a specific product | A repeat purchase, a product that completes it, or a new version of it |
| New customers: past buyers left out | Contacts who have not bought yet | One clear reason for a first order |
Watch for overlap: someone with no order in 90 days is also in the 60- and 30-day segments, so a campaign to each in the same week reaches them three times. One customer can be a repeat buyer, in the VIP group and a buyer of the product you are promoting all at once. Give each campaign one goal, and leave days between campaigns whose segments overlap.
Customers who lapsed long ago have a guide of their own with the full message plan: winning back inactive customers on WhatsApp.
Which of your store customers may you send WhatsApp offers to?
Only those who explicitly agreed to receive offers on WhatsApp. A purchase alone is not consent to marketing: the customer gave you their number so the order could reach them, and if offers they never asked for arrive, they tap «block» or «report» — exactly what Meta judges your number's quality, and whether its sending limit rises, by.
WhatsApp's business policy requires that the person gave you their number and agreed to receive your messages, and obliges you to honour every request to stop, inside WhatsApp or outside it. The cleanest consent a store can collect is taken at the order itself: a box not ticked in advance that the customer ticks themselves. WhatsApp also lets the customer stop marketing messages from your business, and Meta tells your platform; every offer that reaches them afterwards is a request already refused.
A number's quality rating is built from customers' reports and blocks. When quality drops, the messaging limit stops rising, Meta may pause a template that drew many reports, and the ArabyBot dashboard will not start a new campaign while the number is red. Details in WhatsApp quality rating and messaging limits, and why bulk sending gets banned in bulk WhatsApp messages without a ban.
Which WhatsApp message fits each segment of store customers?
Each segment of store customers gets a message that follows the reason the customer is in it: a repeat buyer is rewarded with recognition and early access, a lapsed one is asked a question before being offered a discount, a buyer of one product is reminded to reorder or shown what completes it, and a new customer needs one clear reason for a first order from the store.
«Hi {{1}} 🤍 Because you are one of our most loyal customers, the new collection is open to you before everyone else until {{2}}. Shall we send you the photos here?»
«Hello {{1}}, you ordered {{2}} from us a while ago. If it is running low, you can order it again from the link {{3}} and it will reach you within days.»
«Hi {{1}}, because you are one of our VIP customers: {{2}} off any order until {{3}} with the code {{4}}. This offer is for you only.»
«Hi {{1}}, you asked us about {{2}} before. Your first order from our store gets {{3}} off with the code {{4}} until the end of the month.»
Each of these texts is a marketing template Meta approves before sending, and the variables in braces are filled per customer. One action asked for, one link, and no variable at the very start or end of the text, a common rejection cause. Check your text in the WhatsApp template checker, and the rejection causes in WhatsApp template approval.
Give every campaign that carries a discount its own code, so the store tells you how many orders came from it. Store coupons carry their rules — a minimum order, an expiry date, a usage limit — and for the new-customer campaign the «first order only» condition stops an old customer from using the code.
When should you send WhatsApp offers to store customers, and how often?
Send at hours when someone can answer, and send few campaigns per customer. A customer who replies to an offer wants an answer within minutes, and WhatsApp itself may withhold a marketing message from a user who has recently received many marketing messages from businesses and does not read them.
The best time is when your customers usually order, which you learn from your past orders. A campaign can be scheduled for a day and hour you choose; the hour is Cairo time, the platform's clock, so allow for the difference if your customers are elsewhere.
On frequency: Meta's documentation says WhatsApp may limit how many marketing messages a user receives from all businesses, based on how they read such messages lately and what is in their inbox, and that a message withheld for this reason should not be resent for at least 24 hours. A customer who does not read your offers gets harder to reach with every campaign. We suggest, as a working rule of ours rather than a Meta requirement, no more than one campaign to the same customer per week.
Prepare for what follows before you send, because whoever replies opens a conversation. Your replies inside the 24-hour window are free today — and from 1 October 2026 each phone number gets 1,000 free a month, with the rest charged at the customer's market utility rate. In ArabyBot the AI agent answers those replies from the store itself. Seasonal plans are ready in the Ramadan WhatsApp campaign and the White Friday campaign.
What does a WhatsApp marketing message to store customers cost?
Meta bills every marketing message you start, one by one, by the recipient's country, whether or not the customer replies. To an Egyptian number it is $0.0644 a message on Meta's rate card, about 3.54 EGP; to a Saudi number we have not yet been billed for a marketing message, so we print no figure.
| Message | To an Egyptian number | To a Saudi number |
|---|---|---|
| Marketing: an offer or a campaign | $0.0644 — about 3.54 EGP (Meta's card) | No figure: we have not yet been billed for a marketing message to a Saudi number |
| Utility: an order or shipping update | $0.0036 — about 0.20 EGP (measured) | $0.0107 — about 0.04 SAR (measured) |
| A thousand marketing messages | about 3,542 EGP | — |
| The customer's reply and your chat after it | Free today; from 1 October 2026 the first 1,000 per number a month are free, then the utility rate | Free today; from 1 October 2026 the first 1,000 per number a month are free, then the utility rate |
A campaign costs its message count times the per-message price, so a thousand marketing messages to Egyptian numbers come to about 3,542 EGP. That is why segmenting saves money: a campaign to the whole list also pays for the messages that reach people the offer means nothing to. Dollars are converted at 55 EGP and 3.75 SAR.
Meta's fees go on your account directly with no commission from us on the message; campaigns come with certain plans, each with a monthly number of campaign recipients shown on the pricing page. Work out your campaign before sending it in the WhatsApp campaign cost calculator, and per-country prices in WhatsApp API pricing in Egypt and in Saudi Arabia.
What is the difference between exporting a customer file and reading the segment straight from the store?
A file is a snapshot of the day it was exported; a live segment is computed from the store at the moment the campaign is built. Exporting works with any store and any sending tool, but a file exported last week does not know who bought yesterday and so left the lapsed segment, or who stopped offers today.
A file has real strengths: it does not tie you to one platform, you can split it by any column you like, and it works with any store; its guide is sending WhatsApp messages from an Excel file. Its cost is a manual step before every campaign and a list that ages from the day it was exported.
| Criterion | A file you export, then import | A live segment from the store |
|---|---|---|
| Works with any store platform | Yes | No — with ArabyBot Store only |
| Segmenting | By any column you like, by hand | The segments offered in the form, plus contact tags |
| How current the list is | As of the export day | The moment the campaign is built |
| The customer's consent to offers | Updated in the file by hand | Read from the store; stopping offers in WhatsApp removes it |
| Work before each campaign | Export, upload, match columns | Pick from a list |
The reason is that in ArabyBot the bot and the store are one system, not two tools with a connector between them: the customer who ordered from the store is the same contact in the inbox, and their orders and confirmation state sit beside their chat. ArabyBot is the only bot in the Arab market with its own store platform, which is why the segment is read where it lives rather than moved. Details in bot and store on one platform.
How do WhatsApp campaigns to store customers work in ArabyBot?
The WhatsApp campaign form on the web dashboard has a «from your store customers» field where you pick the segment; it is computed from your store when the campaign is built, and holds only customers who agreed to offers. Then you choose the approved template, send or schedule, and the AI agent answers whoever replies from the store's own products.
- Choose the number and the template
The WhatsApp number you send from, and a marketing template Meta has approved. The campaign reaches the contacts on that number.
- Pick the segment under «from your store customers»
All store customers, bought more than once, no order in 30, 60 or 90 days, a customer group such as VIP, or buyers of one of the 15 most-bought products in your store. Beside each choice is how many consenting store customers it holds, and above it how many of them are on your number.
- For new customers: leave out past buyers
One tick, «leave out everyone who bought from the store before», aims the campaign at your number's contacts who have not bought yet. The consent rule still applies: tag those who asked in the chat to receive offers, and choose that tag.
- Send or schedule
Save the campaign as a draft and start it by hand, or set a day and hour and it runs on its own. Whoever stopped offers inside WhatsApp is skipped at send time, and their consent in the store was removed the moment they stopped, so they return to no segment.
- The agent replies, and the order lands in the store
The AI agent answers whoever replies from the store at the moment of the question: sizes, stock, price, shipping, payment methods and running offers, and it never invents a discount code. It records the order in the chat, so it lands in the store panel with its channel, «AI agent (WhatsApp)», and your team sees the customer's orders beside their chat in the web inbox.
What the agent does in the chat is covered in the ecommerce chatbot guide and ecommerce customer service, the campaign form and its limits in WhatsApp campaigns, the basics of bulk sending in bulk WhatsApp messages, and the store itself in ArabyBot Store.
What do store-customer campaigns in ArabyBot not do?
They do not send automatic sequences triggered by an event, such as a message thirty days after every order; each campaign is built by hand and its segment computed at that moment. The field is on the web dashboard only, not yet in the mobile app, and only customers who agreed to offers at checkout enter the segments.
- No automatic sequences. What runs on its own in the store is a different kind of message: the abandoned-cart reminder, the back-in-stock alert to whoever asked for it, and order-status messages.
- Consent comes from checkout. Customers imported from a file, and those who ordered without ticking the box, stay out of the segments until they agree on a later order.
- The number's contacts. The campaign reaches the segment's customers who are contacts on the WhatsApp number you choose, which is why the form shows both counts.
- The most-bought products. The «bought a product» segment lists the 15 most-bought products in your store, not every product.
- Typing «stop». Someone who types it in the chat is not excluded automatically; tag them and exclude the tag from your campaigns.
- ArabyBot Store only. Live segments are read from its tables; a Shopify or WooCommerce store connected to the bot builds its campaigns from tags or a file.
The bot and the store already work in one account, and the two will soon be offered in one package. How they meet at every step, from the chat to the order to the campaign, is on the bot and store page.
Frequently asked questions
Can I send WhatsApp offers to everyone who bought from my store?
No. A purchase gives you the customer's number so the order can reach them, not permission to market. WhatsApp's business policy requires the recipient to agree to receive your messages, which is why store segments in ArabyBot hold only customers who ticked the offers box at checkout.
What is the difference between a campaign to store customers and one to new customers?
A store-customer campaign picks buyers by behaviour. A new-customer campaign goes to your number's contacts who have not bought yet, with a tick that leaves out everyone who already bought from the store, so a «first order» offer never reaches an old customer.
What happens if a customer stops offers from inside WhatsApp?
Meta tells the platform, so your marketing campaigns skip that customer at send time, and in ArabyBot their consent in the store is removed, taking them out of every store segment. Someone who types «stop» in the chat should be tagged and excluded; the policy obliges you to honour the request wherever it was made.
Does the campaign reach customers I added to the store from a file?
Not through store segments, because an import carries no consent to offers. An imported customer joins the segments when they order from the store and tick the consent box at checkout. This is deliberate: a list whose consent you cannot trace is the fastest way to reports.
How many marketing messages should one customer get?
Meta publishes no fixed number, but WhatsApp may withhold a marketing message from a user who has reached their limit across all businesses. We suggest one campaign per customer per week at most.
Do I need ArabyBot Store to send campaigns to customer segments?
For live segments, yes: they are read from ArabyBot Store's own tables. A Shopify or WooCommerce store connects to the bot for order confirmation, and its campaigns are built from contact tags or an uploaded file. Connecting a store to WhatsApp · the bot and the store as one system.
