Which ad brought this conversation
Ads Manager tells you how many conversations started. It does not tell you what happened in them. One ad can bring a hundred conversations that ask and leave, another fifteen that buy — and the count alone says the first is six times better.
- The source of every conversation
- And what happened in it after
- WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram
We measure what happens in the conversation: its source, what the customer asked, and whether it ended in an order. We do not read your ad spend, so working out return stays with you by putting these figures beside your cost.
Why the conversation count misleads
A "50% off" ad brings many conversations because a discount attracts everyone — including people with no intention to buy. A product ad brings fewer and sells more. Ads Manager sees the count and nothing after it, so you pause the winner and double the loser — while looking at a number that is perfectly correct.
How it is measured
Connect the page and the number
Meta's official connection. No link tagging and nothing to set in Ads Manager.
The conversation arrives with its source
Meta sends the ad's own details along with a conversation that came from one, so it is attached from the first message.
What happened in it is read
A price question, a size request, a completed order, or leaving without a reply — each conversation has an outcome.
It is totalled per ad
So you see ads ranked by what their conversations ended in, not by how many there were.
What the report shows
The ad name on every conversation
Your agent sees it while replying, so they know what the customer was promised before typing.
What the conversation ended in
An order, a question with no purchase, or leaving. Those columns separate an ad that sells from one that just keeps the team busy.
And from comments too
A conversation that started from a comment on an ad is attributed to it, not to "unknown source".
And the limit we state plainly
We do not read your spend from Ads Manager, so we do not compute a return for you. We give you what happened in the conversations; you put it beside your cost.

Questions people actually ask
Do you calculate return on ad spend?
No. Computing return needs reading your spend from Meta Ads Manager, a permission we do not ask for. What we give you is the half Ads Manager cannot see: what happened inside the conversation. Putting the halves together is yours to do.
Does it work with Instagram ads?
Yes, and with Messenger and WhatsApp. Any ad that opens a conversation brings its source with it.
What about conversations that did not come from an ad?
They are labelled with their real source: a comment, a story, a direct message, or a QR code. Nothing is credited to an ad that did not bring it.
