Comments into private messages: the comment asks, the conversation sells
A comment is a poor place to sell: crowded, public, and your competitors can see your customers there. A private message is a good place. Moving between them is the whole idea — and Meta has one strict rule about it: one private message per comment.
- A public reply and a private message
- No phone number left in public
- Then the AI continues
The rule is Meta's, not ours: any tool promising a sequence in reply to one comment will send the first and have the rest refused.
The mistake that ruins a campaign
A common pattern: the post says "comment PRICE and we will DM you", then a three-message sequence is built. The first arrives, the rest are refused, and to the customer the page ignored them after promising not to. The one allowed message must carry the whole answer — not a promise of one.
The right order
A short public reply
It reassures everyone else that the page is alive and answers the readers who never comment. This one has no limit.
One complete private message
Price, sizes, delivery and a question that opens the door — all in one message, because it is the only guaranteed one.
When they reply, the conversation starts
Their reply opens a 24-hour window of free conversation, and the AI takes over from here.
And hand over when needed
When the question outgrows the bot, or the customer asks for a person.
What the funnel does
It reads the comment's intent
A price question, a size request, a complaint, or just praise — each gets its own message, or none.
It keeps numbers out of public
A customer who types their number in the comments is visible to your competitors. Moving to DM prevents that from the start.
The AI continues it
After the customer replies it becomes a real conversation the bot answers from your knowledge — not a second robotic message.
Facebook and Instagram
The same rules on both, and Instagram story replies enter the same path.
The right order versus the common one
| A sequence of private messages | ArabyBot | |
|---|---|---|
| What Meta allows | The first one only | One complete message |
| How it looks to the customer | Promised, then ignored | Their question answered |
| After the customer replies | Nothing | 24 hours of free conversation |
| Their number in public | They type it in the comments | They move to a DM |
Questions people actually ask
Why does the private message sometimes not arrive?
Three reasons: it is a second message on the same comment, the commenter has blocked messages from pages they do not follow, or the page's subscription to feed events has dropped — a setting separate from the messages one.
Can I reply to old comments?
A public reply to an old comment works. The private message is bound to a Meta time window, so very old comments will not accept one.
Is this allowed?
Yes — it is an official path in Meta's interface: one private reply to a comment. What breaks the rules is trying to exceed that one, not using it.
