How do I choose the ArabyBot agent’s reply dialect: Egyptian, Gulf or MSA?
The short answer
You choose the dialect in the agent’s “Behaviour” step, from the “Reply dialect / language style” list: automatic, Egyptian, Gulf/Saudi, Levantine, Moroccan, Modern Standard Arabic, or English only. In automatic mode the agent answers in the customer’s own dialect, and on WhatsApp it uses the country code of the customer’s number when their words are not enough.
The steps in the ArabyBot dashboard
- Open the agent
In the “AI Hub” press “Edit” on the agent’s card, or “New agent” for a new one.
- Go to Behaviour
Go to step three, “Behaviour”, where the prompt, dialect and tone live.
- Pick the dialect
Under “Reply dialect / language style” choose automatic matching, a fixed dialect from “Arabic dialects”, “English only”, or “No preference — let the prompt decide” if your instructions already set the language.
- Pick the tone
Under “Tone / personality” choose natural, formal, friendly, casual, humorous or empathetic.
- Save and test
Press “Next” through to “Finish”, then use the “Test” button with messages in different dialects to see the replies before your customers do.
What you should know
- A fixed dialect is always used whatever the customer writes; “Automatic” matches the customer’s language and dialect.
- In “Automatic” the customer’s words and recent messages decide first. On WhatsApp only, their number sets the default: Saudi, UAE, Kuwaiti, Qatari, Bahraini and Omani numbers get Gulf, Egyptian numbers get Egyptian; the customer’s own words override the number.
- On Facebook and Instagram the customer’s id carries no country, so the dialect is read from their words only.
- Each agent has its own dialect, so one agent can answer in Egyptian on one number and another in Gulf on a different number.
Related questions
A Saudi customer writes from an Egyptian number. Which dialect does the agent use?
In “Automatic” the customer’s words win over the number, so if they write in clear Gulf Arabic the agent answers in Gulf Arabic.
Does the reply language change if the customer writes in English?
In “Automatic”, yes, it answers in the customer’s language. With a fixed Arabic dialect it stays in that dialect, and with “English only” it stays in English.
